Adults need at least 150 minutes of physical activity a week to stay healthy.
If you want to be healthy while avoiding exercise, the best solution is to find ways to be more active in your daily routine. You can also incorporate more active hobbies into your downtime to get yourself moving.
Additionally, part of staying fit is eating a healthy diet, so make sure you're consuming plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins.
Keep your energy levels up and help your body rest and recover from everyday activities by getting 7-9 hours of sleep every night.
1. Take the stairs instead of the elevator.
Little changes like this one can help you stay fit without setting aside a specific time for exercise. Sometimes, the stairs are hidden away, but every building with multiple stories should have them.
Hotel stairs are often located at the ends of corridors. Similarly, if you're in a mall, find the stairs instead of using the escalator or elevator.
2. Take the long way around when walking.
For instance, when you're choosing a parking spot, park at the far end of the parking lot. At work, choose the farthest bathroom or vending machine to walk to. Adding in just a few extra steps a day can make a difference in keeping yourself fit.
You could even choose a restroom on a different floor at work and use the stairs to get there.
At the grocery store, set up your list so you'll need to go back and forth across the store.
3. Skip conveniences like delivery and grocery pickup services.
Every time you have someone else do something for you, such as deliver food or shop for your groceries, you're losing out on activity you could be doing yourself. When you have the time, do it yourself instead. Even loading and unloading the groceries in the car can be a workout, as it provides a little bit of strength training.
